Edward Scissorhands

The second drawing is Edward Scissorhands and I chose him to represent goth fashion, the last but most memorable component of the goth subculture to come about. I chose Edward to portray fashion because his look is very similar to the Trad Goth style that began in the 1980s when bat cave music emerged in London. It is also the very first style of many that followed.

One of the biggest aspects of Trad Goth is big teased hair, definitely the first thing people see. I wanted to bring a lot of attention to it so I made sure to detail his messy hair everywhere with several different brush sizes. I also made his hair pure black, with no grey areas to add depth because I wanted to keep it bold. Hair is a very important part of the style after all. Moreover, I added a little of his black clothes in the neck area in an ode to his wardrobe.
