THE EXPLORER, BOUTIQUE HOTEL DESIGN AND CODING

assignment

To create a single-page, long-scrolling, website for a fictitious boutique hotel. All the pages and interactives need to be responsive. Everything was coded with HTML and CSS.

know-how

Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, GitHub, HTML, and CSS.

plan

Eat. Sleep. Explore. Repeat.

When given the challenge of crafting a boutique hotel website, I chose to launch a hotel named “The Explorer”. A website designed to appeal to the outdoorsy and active people… the explorers.

approach

I first approached this project by first looking for inspiration and creating a mood board. After finding many photos and choosing a color scheme, I got started with the sketches and drafting a layout. for this project my constraints were limited to my own coding ability. I had to overcome many challenges to achieve a layout that had a clear hierarchy and spatial relationships between each of the elements on the page.

The target audience for this website was young adults who love the outdoors and like to take photos; people who want an adventure but who also want to capture the special moments photographically. The chosen photos, style of writing on the pages, and color palette all helped appeal to this audience.

results

The Explorer was born. All pages have interactive elements and are responsive according to their design.
