Inspired Newspaper Ads
This pair of ads was designed around the same time for two local small businesses for local Metroland newspapers. Initially inspired by the images, I maintained the visual hierarchy with the text laid out with bold stylization, yet still in contrast with the images. I like to share these together as they embrace two distinct design layouts inspired by similar elements.
The antique ad went on to be made into a custom poster for the shop.
I enjoyed colour scheming these ones – each had colours sampled from the photos, and in the case of the Savvy ad, sampling patterns as well.
So often in the newspaper world, we were supplied less than top notch art files for logos. So it was really important to clean them up and use them effectively in the designs to elevate the look from its low quality/low resolution. Fortunately the image services we were using did have top quality imagery to use in the advertising.
