Mellow Seizure Detection: Apple Watch Application
As a product designer, I always strive to create beautiful and usable solutions. That's why I was thrilled to work on Mellow, a seizure detection app that runs on the Apple Watch.
Mellow is designed for people with epilepsy who experience motor seizures, such as generalized tonic-clonic seizures or focal to bilateral generalized tonic-clonic seizures.
Mellow uses the motion sensor of the Apple Watch to detect the shaking movements caused by these types of seizures and sends an alert to an emergency contact when a seizure is detected.

My goal was to create a user interface that is simple, intuitive, and accessible for people with epilepsy.
I followed the Apple Human Interface Guidelines and used the SwiftUI framework to design and develop the app. I also conducted user research and testing to understand the needs and preferences of people with epilepsy and their caregivers. Some of the features I implemented are:
• A customizable emergency contact list that allows users to add or remove contacts, change their order of priority, and edit their phone numbers and messages.
• A manual alert button that users can tap or press if they feel a seizure coming or want to notify their contacts for any reason.
• A seizure log that records the date, time, and duration of each detected or reported seizure and allows users to add notes or edit the details.
• A settings screen that lets users adjust the sensitivity of the motion detector, enable or disable sound and vibration feedback, choose a preferred language, and access the privacy policy and terms of service.
I'm proud of the work I did on Mellow, and I hope it will help people with epilepsy live more independently and confidently.
Mellow is available on the App Store for Apple Watch users in Europe and the US.
