Again (2018) - Learning Languages using YouTube Captions

This is another throwback project to my experience working with with jQuery, SSR, Preact and YouTube API. At the time, YouTube captions weren't available interactively on mobile like they are now, so I created a karaoke app for YouTube captions to learn languages like Portuguese and French.

The app also included a "First Letter" mode, so that I could speed up my memorization of words and phrases using the First-Letter Mnemonic strategy.

Additionally, a translation mode was available for videos that didn't have English captions, but I disabled that feature because I ran out of free translation request calls to Microsoft's Azure translation API. lol

All in all, it was a fun full-stack project to work on back then. Now, YouTube captions works similarly on mobile, so I just use the YouTube app if I want to take a similar approach to learning new languages on the go.
