Particle solver iterations

A personal project where I iterate on a simple concept. Dowels spin through a container of particles. Using the xpFluidFX solvers I wanted to see how changing various properties would affect the final look. There were about 13 versions in all, many of them producing undesirable results.

Created in Cinema4D with X-Particles. Rendered in Redshift.

2 layers of grain particles with a single set of dowels making a 180° spin on the center axis.

Split the dowels into 2 groups and rotate from the top and bottom axis. Also used a random rotation on square shaped particles to create a glitter look.

An image mapped to the original particle grid gets distorted over time as the particles swirl.

A combination of liquid solvers and grain solver. The top white layer of particles uses the grain solver while the bottom layers behave as liquid with a low density to push up through the top layer.
