About: Optelec specializes in electronic equipment for the visually impaired, developing simple Braille solutions for those who have recently lost their vision, as well as cutting edge computer products and audio text readers. It was founded in 1975 by F.J. Tieman, when he developed the first video magnifier for a customer who could no longer see with only glasses. A decade later Tieman obtained the first patent on refreshable Braille cell technology
