Case Study: Redesign BDO Mobile Banking App

Role: UX Researcher, UI Design

Research and Emphatize

Being a user of this bank myself, I've always noticed how inadequate their UX and UI are. I went through the reviews on the app store and found some, such as the following

Pain Points

Based off of the reviews, the following persona was created

Visual Design

Prototype

  1. To improve the user experience, I made the buttons a secondary color and added a customer service feature to provide users with support whenever they need it. I hope these enhancements will help users navigate the app with ease and address any issues they encounter while using it.

  2. I incorporated a profile button for users to conveniently access and edit their profiles.

  3. I designed the accounts section to resemble the physical BDO card and organized them in card format. To easily navigate through multiple accounts, I added a slider feature. Additionally, I incorporated an 'add' button for users to easily add another card to their account.

  4. As this app will be an all-in-one platform, it would be more convenient for users to have all of BDO's services in one place. To achieve this, I decided to prioritize the most commonly used services on the home page rather than burying them under a "more" or bottom navigation.

  5. They say less is better. I decided to remove the QR code from the bottom navigation and relocate it to the services section on the home page.

Takeaways

Redesigning the app was a fun experience, and I would love to redesign more of their pages in the future. During the process, I had to research the BDO brand, which allowed me to discover areas where I could improve their product and user experience.

I believe that BDO should have plans to improve their mobile application. This can help in security and functionality that can users feel more confident in the product and fully utilize its features.
