MORE THAN WATER PRODUCTION

The Dutch water supply company Vitens provides almost 6 million customers with clean and safe dinking water. During the process the company filters residual substances from drinking water that is pumped up from their wells. Until recently, residual substances (such as chalk or iron) used to be waste products and added significantly to their overall costs. Fortunately other industries are now able to use these raw materials for their own processes which adds value instead of costs for Vitens. Monitoring and optimizing their production has therefore become very important.

Outline solutions was asked to design custom dashboards for different stakeholders within the organization such as operators and managers. The new RIS system can be used to monitor more than 180 production facilities in the Netherlands and will make financial estimations for each residual material. Thanks to RIS the company is able to optimize plants to not only produce high quality drinking water, but also to extract valuable materials for other industries.
