Shirley Heinze Land Trust Spring Benefit Invitation

Shirley Heinze Land Trust was looking for an image to represent their Spring Benefit/Fundraiser theme, "Building a Community of Stewards". By showing native plants, animals, and insects in proximity to human habitation, I wanted to capture the idea that we are responsible for protecting and preserving the unique ecosystem in Northwest Indiana. The choice of a hermit thrush, a bird threatened by climate change and habitat loss, was apt. This bird represents familial connection as well, and is seen here caring for a clutch of eggs - the next generation.
