#User:
The system admin role is similar to a CEO of a construction company. They supervise multiple workers who are employed here. The available roles within the Software are project manager, estimator, worker, and other roles.
Use Case(s):
You have an in-house installation crew composed of top electricians and support installers, as well as subcontractors who assist you on jobs. Subcontractors are paid per watt that we install, so they earn more for larger solar arrays. You also have hourly employees and salaried employees.
To determine your actuals, you simply add the values together. You can then subtract this from the cost to keep track of the remaining cost to complete and ensure you are on target. Managing tasks for hourly workers is more or less automatic, but for contractors and materials, you need to manually update the information. This involves specifying the contractor, their invoice number, and pricing information.
You use a combination of automated and manual entry to determine your projected profit on individual line items. However, not everyone needs or wants this level of detail. Instead, you can dump all the actuals into expenses and calculate at the project level whether you hit our desired profit margins or not.
Typically, you start by recording all labor hours automatically. Then, you punch in material items indiscriminately to understand if you are on target or not. If you are losing money on projects, you can come back and break down the expenses to identify the problem areas.
There are a few different approaches to this, depending on bandwidth, desire, and whether or not there is a problem to address.
Thanks!
