Repeat pattern 50

Finally, hitting the number 50. It is a special one. I tried to recreate following Mel Armstrong’s skillshare class. The initial plan was copy blindly. Didn’t think that I will end up with an entirely different one.

My first super motif heavy, busy pattern. First 1000px square sized pattern tile! And including birds. Outlines borrowed from local ‘Black Drongo’ bird’s photographs. I have changed the color black (the original color) from pink when preparing the motifs!! I know it’s crazy. And the flowers, I traced these from Mel Armstrong provided pinterest moodboard. I had to trace them as my drawing skill is still in the improvement phase.

My brain is fried after a heavy dose of moving and tossing around motifs. In a good way though. There were few times, I was like I can’t continue! It will take forever to fill in all the empty space. When will I be able to finish it? So it’s very much done in ‘one step forward, two step backward’ mode.

I have skipped the tiny tiny texture part though it was in the initial plan. A bit negative space here and there is looking really good to me. I can hear the pattern say, “thanks for the breathing nooks and crannies.”
