Mushroom Stand

The Mushroom Stand® concept lies in the idea of designing an exhibition platform with a structure similar to that of a mushroom. Mushrooms are formed by tubular structures (hyphae) that start from the stem and make up the fungus. The idea is to create a “stem” on which U-shaped structures are attached, which hold the samples to be exhibited.

The stand is made of a light metal to which a copper coating has been applied on its outer layer. The display trays are made of plastic ABS, the objective of this is to lighten the whole.

The main feature that is portrayed in this exhibitor is the customization and easy storage due to it dissasemble capability.

To manufacture the whole object Selective Lasser Sintering will be choosen due to the high dimensional accuracy and the robust printed parts that are needed to bring stability to the stand.

Sample-Holder

The informative text will be stickered in a tray made out of plastic, which is being connected to the holder by adhesive bonding.

Holder and tray will be manufactured by Injection Molding since it gives great tolerances and suits well with ABS.

Exchange Arm

The stand can be built as desired, being able to add a maximum of 6 arms. thanks to a threaded connection which allows the coupling of the arms with the base.

To cover the holes that aren't going to be connected with the arms, a hubcap has been designed.

Rotational Trunk

The arms of the stand can be rotated 360 degrees thanks to the disposition of its trunk, which, by means of 28 balls (R1), that are made of a very resistant foam (similar to that used by riot gear) since it does not react with copper. The base is made up of three levels (with a maximum of two arms on each), which can be rotated independently of the rest.
