Repeat pattern 46

Yesss! My 1st houndstooth pattern now exists. Took a bit trial and error to figure out the ‘motif set up’ part. It’s like I am solving a geometric puzzle. Geometric patterns are something I am looking forward to make many more.

Through trial n error process, saved the previous versions as well even though they aren’t pattern theory wise correct. Couldn’t make myself delete them. I mean they can work as patterns too. I am considering sharing them too.

About the colors, couldn’t stick to the usual rule (the stark contrast) of Houndstooth. I had to break, test the variations of the color rule. Here comes the result of testing colors. 2 colors seems so limited to me. Just a second thought! I might make a gradient version to have more colors in the pattern.

I have used the negative space of the background as the in-between shapes. I am currently reading ‘Patternpedia’ (on repeat mode, to have an in-depth understanding of what I am dealing with). It’s a free resource, by @bearbellproductions, which is amazing.

My pattern related vocabulary is on the rise thanks to this mini ebook. My initial itch for this pattern came from reading about it and seeing the attached example in this book. I am gonna keep reading it until I have internalized every term and can speak about them with my eyes closed!!
