Ideally, customers never find your 404 page, but errors happen. So when they do, design your 404 page to raise a smile amid the frustration of not getting to the webpage someone wanted.
Keep your users entertained and help keep them from leaving a site when they don't find what they want. Here is a shot of Peak11 404 page that was intended to reinforce our brand identity and add a silver lining to an error that can work in our brand's favour.
