Food Depot International is a family-owned small business in Etobicoke, Ontario. They sell a large variety of European grocery items, from German pickles, Polish sauerkraut, and Hungarian goulash paste to chocolates, biscuits, and other treats. Their biggest attraction is their selection of over 400 varieties of imported cheese and meat.

Considerations
Functionality: the original website was not serving the company. Customers were having a difficult time navigating the site, and they were unable to check out items that they put in their cart.

What we did
We decided to migrate the current website (WordPress + WooCommerce) to Shopify to harness its eCommerce capabilities. We integrated the Shopify website with its basic-level POS system so that FDI could track inventory across its locations, including in its brick-and-mortar store.
The result: a beautiful, information-rich website and POS system that are fully integrated with each other.
With a minimalistic design and an engaging backstory, the website builds trust around the company and its founders, positions itself in the market as a small, approachable company with years of experience, and encourages visitors to interact with its online resources and courses.
The website is easy to use, manage, and scale, and is completely integrated with email, eCommerce, and membership platforms, reducing administration, development, and design costs.
