UX Design: Västtrafik To-Go App
Project Time: 2 months
Software Used: Figma, Google Forms, Microsoft Excel, Trello
Our goal in this project was to conduct user research on the current app, identify the areas that required improvement, and modify the app accordingly. The project aimed to enhance the overall user experience by implementing changes based on the insights we gained from our research.
My role in this project was as a UX researcher, UX designer, and Scrum Master. Our team completed the project within two months, delivering a successful outcome.
#01. Empathize
During this stage, we conducted surveys and user interviews to collect data and created personas. Among those, we chose a student named 'Malin Lundin' as our main persona. We even created a profile video for her, which you can watch below.
We also developed a customer journey in this stage.
#02. Define
We have done usability test in four senarios, regarding Västtrafik To-Go app.
No 'Student Ticket' option in To-Go app
Uncertainty about bicycle rules on vehicles and cycling paths
Map function in the app is confusing with mixed internal and Google maps
App contains excessive text, making it difficult to navigate.
#03. Ideate
Our team brainstorming session went smoothly, and we have decided to use mid-fidelity wireframes to deliver our ideation results
#04. Prototype
Based on the findings from our previous session and the solutions we've developed, we have created the high-fidelity wireframes.
#05. Test and Final Design
After receiving very positive feedback from our test persons on all three scenarios, we have made some minor changes to the colors and navigation flows. Our final design is now ready to be presented.
#06. Takeaways
This is a redesign project for the client's current app. To improve the overall process, it would be beneficial to have more communication with the client before the project starts. Additionally, we discovered more usability issues during the initial stages of testing, so we may need to make further improvements based on any additional findings we come across.
This project was divided into two parts, and two different groups were involved. I would like to express my gratitude to all the team members for their contributions, they are:
UX research team: Jenny Riksen; Magnus Henry; Catrin Johnsson
UX design team: Linnea Berggren; Marjan Jabinpishe; Leo Söderberg
Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to this project!
