There are several folktales and legends from the Azores that suggest that the Hotel Monte Palace is cursed and that the land on which it was built was once sacred to the island's indigenous people. Some say that the spirits of the land were angered by the hotel's construction and caused it to fail. Additionally, it's worth mentioning that I am working on a website project that will provide more detailed information about the history and folklore surrounding the Hotel Monte Palace and its downfall.
