GitBook's New Icon System

Hello there! 👋

In January, we shipped +300 icons at GitBook. The new icon system was necessary for the brand identity change, new features, and better communication with users.

As the brand designer, I led the initiative from start to handoff and collaborated closely with the design team to ensure usability. I prepared stress test elements to see overall consistency within different edges. The challenge was creating an icon set that was consistent yet different and friendly to non-technical users.

The progress was iterative and focused on simplicity, scalability, and consistency. The new icon system included custom details and a unique narrative to increase brand awareness.
