Freeland: New Unity - Elizabeth Primrose Nelowie Reference Sheet
Originally created December 12th, 2022.
This is a piece of reference material for a fantasy RPG I am conceptualizing called Freeland: New Unity. In particular, this piece details the visual and narrative design of one of the characters from the game, Elizabeth Primrose Nelowie.
Elizabeth is one of the compatriots that the Pioneer can recruit to their party in Freeland: New Unity. She is an unpredictable pyromancer who has a few unique abilities and restrictions, namely that her clothes are alive and are just as much of an asset to your team's dynamic as Elizabeth is herself (a good thing too, since she can never take them off). Elizabeth's power comes from her heart, or rather, the flame that burns unwavering in place of her heart. Instead of blood, she has bubbling fire flowing through her veins, and she can open any of the numerous scars covering her body at will to expel that fire from her body as a means of attack.
Though she's a glass canon, her small size and impressive agility make it easier for her to avoid taking what little damage she can sustain, and her protective dress will lash out at enemies that manage to catch her off-guard; however, despite the decent level of cooperation demonstrated by Elizabeth and her clothing, there are times when one of the two may start to get excited in the thrill of the fight (usually this is Liz), thrashing about in wild exhilaration while the other tries their best to calm them down (usually this is the dress). All-in-all, Elizabeth is a very volatile character, one who is best utilized by someone who really takes the time to know her - for better or for worse.
I plan to make more design sheets in a similar manner to this for the other characters in the game. This one in particular took a long time to create because I decided to draw two lineups for the same character to demonstrate the duality of the character's personality, the dress' ability to shapeshift, and how fire forms the character's body. I hope the other sheets I create like this don't take nearly as long, but we shall see.
