Our plant shop app also includes a plant care section, where you can find helpful tips and tricks on how to care for your plants, so they stay healthy and vibrant.

Goal

As a UI/UX designer, I was tasked with designing a mobile app for a plant shop that would allow users to browse and purchase plants online. The goal was to create a user-friendly and visually appealing interface that would make it easy for users to find and buy their desired plants. This case study details my design process and the decisions I made along the way.

Hypothesis

By creating a user-friendly and visually appealing plant shop app that provides a wide selection of high-quality plants, along with detailed plant care information and a seamless purchasing process, we can increase the number of customers who buy plants online and improve their overall satisfaction with the buying experience. This will result in increased sales and repeat purchases, ultimately establishing our app as a leading player in the online plant market

Design Process

During this project, I covered all the double diamond stages: from the definition of the problem to the final design specs.

Design Process / Research

The goal of the plant shop app was to provide users with an easy and seamless way to browse and purchase plants online. The app was designed to be user-friendly and visually appealing, with a focus on simplicity and ease of use.

The primary objectives were to:

1. See the real photos of the flowers and track their order. Be able to learn more about the characteristic details and longevity of the flowers

2. Create a clean and organized interface that would make it easy for users to find and purchase their desired plants.

3. Design a simple and intuitive checkout process that would minimize cart abandonment and increase conversion rates.

4. Add features like push notifications, order tracking, and customer support chat to enhance the user experience and ensure that users feel supported throughout the purchasing process.

key insights:

1. Bad experience with receiving smashed plants, late delivery and not being able to track the order.

2. Complex Checkout Process: Some apps have complex checkout processes that lead to cart abandonment and frustration among users.

3. Inconsistent Visuals: Inconsistent visuals can make an app look unprofessional and unappealing to users, leading to a lower conversion rate.

4. Lack of Customer Support: Many apps do not offer customer support, leaving users feeling unsupported and frustrated if they encounter any issues with their orders.

5. Cluttered Interface: Many plant shop apps have cluttered interfaces, making it difficult for users to navigate and find what they are looking for

6. Poor Navigation: Poor navigation can make it difficult for users to find what they are looking for, leading to frustration and a negative user experience.

User research objectives

Understanding the user is an essential part of providing a well-designed solution.

1. Identify user persona

2. Understand their needs and criteria.

3. To determine the preparations they must make before engaging in an activity.

4. To identify the features that would facilitate and simplify their experience.

5. Understand the usability of the platform and the challenges they would overcome through this platform.

6. Adding personalized experience.Assistive planner.

User Persona

Customer Journey Map

A customer journey map is a visual storyline of how the customer engages with our product.

Ideate

At this stage, I came up with solutions and created an information architecture.

Wireframes

Here are some of the mid-fidelity wireframes

Usability Testing

I utilized these wireframes to conduct usability testing with a total of 10 participants. The main aim of this assessment was to pinpoint the specific sections of the application that needed tweaking in order to enhance the user experience and overall satisfaction.

With the provided feedback I implemented some changes.

I created a design that focused on simplicity, user-friendliness, and visual appeal. The app's interface is minimalistic, with a white background and vibrant plant images that make it easy for users to browse and find what they're looking for.

The home screen of the app features a banner with the latest promotions and sales. users can browse plants by categories such as indoor, outdoor, succulents, etc. Each category has a representative image that helps users quickly identify the plant type.

When users tap on a category, they are directed to a page with all plants available in that category. Each plant has an image, name, price, and a short description. Users can add plants to their cart or wishlist from this page. To make the checkout process easy and seamless, I designed a simple cart page that displays the total cost of the items added to the cart. Users can review their order, remove items, or proceed to checkout. On the checkout page, users enter their shipping and payment information, and they can also apply promo codes or gift cards.

To enhance the user experience, I added features like push notifications, order tracking, and customer support chat. These features ensure that users can stay informed about their orders and receive help in case of any issues.
