Developing video editing style: Creative Meetup
Okay, so first off… it's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy at work with our team and building out the vision for our studio space. But I gotta say, it's good to be back 👋😊
I've been working developing a video editing style, and figured I'd share some thoughts and get some tips from all you pros out there.
Editing: FCPX vs. Premier… I've got to be honest… I love FCPX. I find it much quicker to get edits out the door. Is Premier a better and more connected to Adobe software? Absolutely. Heck, I think I'm the only one at Underbelly that used FCPX. For our collaborative projects we stay in the Adobe suite. Although I'm really tempted to make Davinci Resolve the new default. The more I use it the more I love it.
Graphics: As an interaction designer… I didn't see a reason to leave figma on this one.
Audio: I've found good quality tracks and sound effects on Artlist.io. In the past I've used musicbed.com with some success.
Transitions: This one is new for me. I looked into motionvfx.com, storyblocks.com, and motionarray.com but ultimately went with Artlist.io as I already have a subscription there. If I had more time, I'd rather go custom and build it out in After Effects.
What is your experience? What are your favorite video editing tools, tips and techniques?
🗓️ This video is a sample of a longer video promoting a monthly creative meetup that we host at Underbelly in partnership with Nomolos Creative. If you're in Salt Lake City and like food, other people, and a good time, check out the full video. The next event is March 6, 2023. See you there!
