NFT App Case Study

The Brief

Moon is a fast rising startup working to create an NFT app that presents a highly curated, design-centered experience for tech savvy digital art collectors.

Mood Board

With a long history of finely curated collections, it seemed natural to turn to the world of traditional fine arts for inspiration. The challenge became how to marry a more traditional curation approach with the colorful quirky world of NFTs.

Visual Exploration

Early visual explorations quickly focused in on the card presentation of the NFT itself. Researching existing NFT marketplaces led to a greater emphasis on collection—not unlike baseball or Pokemon cards. The focus shifted, then, to creating an experience that would bring a sense of nostalgia that would appeal to high end collectors.

In terms of color and typography, the goal became to include splashes of vibrant colors that would be reminiscent of many NFTs themselves while also maintaining a neutral backdrop against which the art itself could shine.

Visual Styles

While the visual exploration provided a good start, the colors, typography, components, and modules were further refined into reusable components for the client's design library.

Final Screens

With wireframe supplied by the client, I applied the visual styles refined during the exploration phase to the wireframes.
