Spice Up Your Life: A User-Centric UX/UI Design for Restaurant
Case Study
Introduction:
Prio Spice is an Indian restaurant located in the heart of the city. The restaurant's primary goal was to showcase its menu items and take orders online. As the solo product designer, my objective was to create a user-friendly interface that would encourage users to click on the 'order now' button, which would redirect them to another website for ordering or convince them to download the app to make orders and receive discounts.
Goals:
The primary goals of the Prio Spice UX/UI design were to:
Showcase menu items in an appealing manner
Encourage users to click on the 'order now' button
Provide a seamless user experience while ordering
Increase the number of downloads for the Prio Spice app
Increase customer loyalty through discounts
Research:
To better understand the user's needs and preferences, Me and stakeholders conducted user interviews and surveys to gather feedback on their ordering habits and the features they needed to order online. We also researched the competitive landscape to identify key features that our software could incorporate to differentiate itself.
Design:
Based on our research and analysis, I created wireframes and prototypes that incorporated the key features identified during the research phase. The design included the following key features:
Home Page: The home page of the Prio Spice website showcased the menu items in an appealing manner, with high-quality images and descriptions of each item. A 'special offer' banner was also included to highlight ongoing discounts and promotions.
Ordering Page: The ordering page allowed users to view the menu items and add them to the cart. The page was designed to be easy to navigate, with clear and concise information about each item. A prominent 'order now' button was placed at the bottom of the page to encourage users to place their orders.
Checkout Page: The checkout page was designed to be simple and intuitive, allowing users to enter their billing and shipping information quickly. The page also included an option to apply coupon codes or gift cards, encouraging users to take advantage of the discounts.
App Download Page: A separate app download page was created to encourage users to download the Prio Spice app. The page showcased the benefits of downloading the app, including exclusive discounts and offers.
Results:
The Prio Spice UX/UI design was well-received by customers, resulting in an increase in online orders and app downloads. Within the first six months of implementation, the restaurant saw a 25% increase in online orders and a 15% increase in app downloads. Customer loyalty also increased, with customers taking advantage of the exclusive discounts offered through the app.
Conclusion:
As the solo product designer, I was able to create a user-friendly interface that met the user's needs and requirements. The Prio Spice UX/UI design helped to increase online orders and app downloads, proving that UX/UI design is critical to the success of any online business. The design was able to showcase menu items in an appealing manner, encourage users to click on the 'order now' button, provide a seamless user experience while ordering, increase the number of downloads for the Prio Spice app, and increase customer loyalty through discounts.
