Case Study | Flipped

Flipped | mock mobile application

Design Challenge

Create a mobile app that will allow users to find food truck vendors, preview the vendor's menu and their upcoming location schedule. I was the user experience designer and user experience researcher.

Competitive Audit

While various applications and websites are available for users to find information about local food trucks, there is not a widely used application displaying consistent information about the current menu, current location of the vendor, and their upcoming schedule which users identified as common pain points.

Wireframing

As I began the design process, I created multiple paper wireframes to being ideating the user flow, determining the number of screens and how users would navigate through the application to complete the task of finding new vendors and reviewing their menu.

Usability Testing

After creating a low-fidelity prototype, I planned a moderated usability study, interviewed five participants and reviewed the data to extract research insights. Users reported they wanted an expanded list of dietary filters, a GPS function to easily navigate to the vendor, and wanted the notes function to be more visible.

High Fidelity Prototyping

Finally, I ideated on the lo-fi prototype to implement P0 and P1 improvements to create a high fidelity prototype and created a design system to include color, typography, iconography, and buttons for consistency throughout the design.

Accessibility

Throughout the design process, accessibility was considered by ensuring the color contrast met AA standards for large text, labels were paired with icons, and action items such as buttons were consistently using color with high contrast text.
