Stained Glass Badge

Testing the waters and created something 3D this weekend. I felt a badge or emblem would work as a good step into the unknown as it could remain flat with a vector as a base, but with ridges and a roundness to that similar of the Apple Fitness badges. 

Spline seemed like a good fit - easy to dive in and use and lots of examples that you can pull apart and see how things are made, shaded and lit.

I liked the idea that it was closer to the way stained glass looks with vibrant colours reflecting light - the illustration itself was also inspired by stained glass, making sure lines connected so that sections of colour were whole pieces. 

I also wanted the feeling that this looked like it was assembled. Pieced together with a top layer, coloured pieces and a backing plate sandwiched together and locked in with a thick outer rim.
