Dropdown menus are a common feature in websites and other digital products. They provide a way for users to access additional content or options without taking up valuable screen space.

There are two main types of dropdown menus: one that appears on hover and one that appears after clicking (opening) on it. The dropdown on hover allows users to quickly browse the content before taking any other action. However, this type of dropdown menu may present accessibility issues as per the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

On the other hand, the on-click version requires one additional step to discover the content. This implementation follows the widely accepted best practice of requiring explicit user actions. Additionally, it is the only option for mobile users with limited screen sizes. The on-click version ensures that the dropdown menu is only displayed when desired, preserving valuable screen space.
