Palmdale Identity Concept

Hello!✌️

Here is a glimpse into a conceptual side project of mine.

Background: The city of Palmdale, located in the northern region of Los Angeles county, has been selected as a stop for both California's and Brightline's upcoming high speed rail. In anticipation of a boost in overall growth, Palmdale has made plans to revitalize many crucial parts of the city—with a focus on downtown.

A revitalization of the city's identity is needed to more holistically reflect both the past and the future.

At the heart of the city is Plant 42. Many of the world's most advanced stealth aircraft are designed and build at this facility.

In many ways it is the heart of the city, which lead me to use it as direct inspiration for the logomark.

Palmdale Road Cut

"There are only very few places in California where the San Andreas Fault, our most famous earthquake line, can be spotted at the Earth's surface... The most famous of the two lies just south of Palmdale in the northeastern part of Los Angeles County." - UC Berkeley Seismology Lab

I was always fascinated by this area as a child. When entering Palmdale northbound you immediately notice the large and unique natural formation, serving as a gateway into the heart of the city. Because this area is so unique to Palmdale it made sense to tie it into the city's identity.

Thank You🌴
