An Illustrated Guide to the Design Sprint

The Design Sprint is a game-changer in problem-solving and product creation. With its five action-packed days, each with a clear purpose, it's the perfect tool for fast-forwarding to your future success. And to make the journey even more vibrant and immersive, I have prepared illustrations to accompany each day, bringing the Design Sprint experience to life.

The Monday meeting involves a series of structured discussions to establish a solid foundation and focus for the sprint week. The agenda includes defining key questions and a long-term goal, creating a map of the product or service, seeking input from team experts, and selecting a target representing the biggest risk and/or opportunity.

Tuesday is focused on solving problems through a deep thinking process rather than group brainstorming. Each individual will create detailed and opinionated solutions using a four-step process emphasizing critical thinking over artistic skill.

On Wednesday morning, the team will have several potential solutions. The five-step "Sticky Decision" method will be used to select the best options, before the final decision is handed over to the designated decision-maker. In the afternoon, the chosen elements will be combined into a storyboard that outlines the plan for the prototype.

Thursday is dedicated to building a realistic prototype of the solution to simulate a finished product for testing on Friday. The goal is to determine if the team is on the right track.

On Friday, the prototype will be tested by showing it to five customers in individual interviews. This quick and efficient method allows for immediate feedback and answers to pressing questions, instead of waiting for a perfect launch.

Thank you for taking the time to read about the Design Sprint and view the illustrations. I hope you enjoyed it. Until next time!
