2022 NCAA Women's Final Four in Minneapolis, MN.

Compass Container - A compass is an instrument used for navigation & orientation. This is the overall container shape of the mark. Symbolizing adventure, exploration, wilderness, and an outdoor lifestyle. This shape is also in the suggested shape of the northern star. The anatomy of a compass continues to be featured throughout the mark.

Four Stars, Four Teams (top) - Four stars are featured in the top half of the logo representing the four teams and the four regional brackets the teams come from.

Polaris (North Star) - Prominently featured in the basketball, blending the north star and geographical region with the tournament.

Stone Arch Bridge (bottom) - A former railroad bridge crossing in downtown Minneapolis. It is the second oldest bridge spanning the Mississippi River and the only arched bridge made of stone on the entire Mississippi as well. Present day it is a pedestrian bridge prominently featured on the edge of downtown. It is also a Historical Civil Engineering Landmark and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

Mississippi River (bottom) - Famously beginning in Minnesota and carving through the region and culture of the entire state.

This was my first time incorporating the iPad Pro and Procreate into my logo development process. Implementing those tools into my process changed the speed at which I could duplicate ideas and create variations in the early stages of my creative process.

If I am sketching, I think differently and I can work out ideas more thoughtfully with my hands than I could by simply jumping into the digital space. And I still like the feel of a pencil on paper. Jumping into the digital space too early in my process robs me of the ability to creatively problem solve and I get focused on precision, perfection, and balance too early.

Incorporating the iPad Pro and Procreate into my process is a helpful tool to create exact detailed shapes when I need them in combination with rough concepts, which benefits my process overall.
