Daily Logo Challenge #03 - Panda

This was a tough challenge, because it required at least a basic understanding of panda bear anatomy and colouring. The other issue was the existence of the well established and renowned WWF logo (as well as the skateboarding brand Enjoi) which made it necessary to avoid similarity.

While looking at reference pictures of pandas, I realized they are both playful and laid back. They do most of their stuff laying on their backs, so I attempted to transfer that vibe into the logo. I put the panda on its back and enclosed it in a circle. To fill out the negative space on top, I added a ball bouncing off the panda's paws.

Finally, the form reminded me of a Yin Yang symbol, so I carved out some extra negative space between the panda's legs to make an empty dot opposite the black ball.
