The City and The City Book Cover Design

You have lived your entire life in the City - you know nothing else. Since youth, you have been trained to avoid your gaze at something without actually knowing what you're not looking at - you're avoiding looking at the other City. Two cities physically intertwined but seem to exist on different planes - that is the setup of The City and The City. I wanted to reflect these cities in a literal reflection. The metro-style font bleeding into itself suggests a dark modernity - progress being used for ill. On a technical note, I had a fun time learning about displacement maps and creating one from the existing water to distort the reflected image in a realistic way. Thanks for looking!#bookcover #bookcoverdesign
