Dog Walking Mobile App - Doggy

Overview

Doggy is a dog walking + service app that pairs you with experienced local caregivers to make life easier as a dog owner.

The Challenge

Dogs aren’t just pets, they are family and the overall goal was to create an app that felt more personalized to each dog by finding the perfect caregiver match. Dog owners want to find quality pet care that is reliable and that they can trust.

The Solution

Pet owners can create a detailed and customized profile for their pup that allows them to not only find pet care, but match with someone who is the perfect fit. Say goodbye to the days of uncertainty, and hello to trusted and reliable pet care.

User Research

After doing some interviews with dog owners I found that the most important features should be focused around:

  • Trust: Dog owners want to trust their caregiver to meet their expectations.

  • Transparency: Caregivers should have as much information on each dog before deciding if they are a right fit. Over-sharing is key to providing the best experience for everyone.

  • Experience: One size doesn't fit all and some dogs require more experience based on their needs.

User Persona

The user for this app is someone who has a busy lifestyle and wants to avoid the hassle of having to worry about the quality of care while they are away. They want personalized care for their pup and someone who understands what they are walking into.

Styles + Components

Main Screens

The main screens were designed with style and simplicity in mind. Some key features are the instant book button on the main navigation, top caregiver matching system and a thorough caregiver profile.

Onboarding

The detailed and personalized onboarding process is the key ingredient to ensuring the perfect match.

  • Dog Profile: Dog owners will create a detailed profile that includes personality traits, quirks, specialty care and instructions that their pup requires.

  • Caregiver Profile: Caregivers will complete a similar profile that includes the type of dogs that they are experienced with to ensure that they are the right fit for the job.

Outcome + Results

1. Keep It Simple: Everything from the color palette to the functionality of the design should be simple yet effective. I found myself simplifying my design system, screens and overall functionality throughout this entire project. The easier it is to get to the end goal, the happier the user will be.

2. Prototype + Test: This is an obvious one, but extremely important. Testing not only shows flaws in usability, but also minor design adjustments that seem insignificant, but made a huge difference.

3. Design Systems: Design systems can be time consuming and tedious, but will save so much time in the long run.

Thank You!
