Tambola Live: Lessons from a bold, yet unsuccessful venture
Role: UX/UI design (individual contributor)
Company: Glance TV, Inmobi group
Year: 2023
Tambola Live was an ambitious project at Glance TV aimed at transforming traditional TV viewing into an interactive, prize-winning experience. Despite our innovative approach and the hard work invested, the project ultimately did not achieve the success we envisioned and was shelved. However, I see immense potential in this idea and plan to revisit and refine it. Stay tuned for a detailed case study that will explore the entire journey, from conception to the lessons learned.
What was Tambola Live on TV?
Tambola Live was designed as an interactive game where viewers could participate in real-time while watching live TV. A host guided the game, and viewers could play along using their devices, making the TV experience more engaging and dynamic. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, the project did not succeed and was shelved.
The appeal of Tambola Live
Viewers were invited to play along with a live host, offering a unique interactive experience that combined the thrill of live television with the excitement of real-time gaming and winning prizes. This innovative approach was intended to create a new, engaging way to enjoy TV.
Why did it fail and why revisit it?
The initial launch faced several challenges, including technical issues and lower-than-expected user engagement. These setbacks led to the project's shelving. However, the concept has significant potential, and with the right adjustments, it could become a successful venture. Addressing the initial flaws and leveraging the lessons learned can pave the way for future success.
Stay tuned for the detailed case study
A detailed case study is coming soon, where I will dive deeper into the design process, the challenges faced, and the insights gained from this project. Stay tuned to learn more about the evolution of Tambola Live and the plans for its revival.
