Polychain Monsters: NFT Booster Packs

NFT Booster Packs: Feel the rush to discover the unknown.

Polychain Monsters

Introducing Polychain Monsters, an innovative and nostalgic project that combines the thrill of collecting with the cutting-edge technology of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

As 90s kids, we've always had a passion for collecting, and we wanted to bring that same excitement to the world of digital collectibles. With the emergence of NFTs in 2020, we saw an opportunity to create something truly special, and eventually launched as one of the most hyped projects on 31st March 2021.

Digital Booster Packs

Polychain Monsters allows users to discover unique, animated creatures known as "Polymon" in digital booster packs. Each Polymon is randomly generated as an NFT, featuring stunning animation and varying levels of rarity. With more than 2.7 million booster packs opened to date, Polychain Monsters has quickly become a popular and engaging experience for collectors and gamers alike.

UX Design

The core feature of Polychain Monsters is the ability for users to open digital booster packs and discover unique, animated creatures known as Polymon. To ensure the best user experience, we have refined the process of opening booster packs through an iterative design, development, and community feedback process.

Through this process, we can continuously gather feedback from our community and improve the user experience. This has helped drive engagement and excitement within the Polychain Monsters community, making it a popular and enjoyable experience for collectors and gamers alike.

Opening booster packs in Polychain Monsters consists of 4 simple steps:

  • Choosing which pack to open: Users can select from various booster packs, each with its own set of potential Polymon discoveries.

  • Checking out: Once a pack is selected, users can check out and purchase the pack.

  • Waiting for web3 magic to happen: This step involves using smart contracts on the blockchain to mint and transfer ownership of the new Polymon discovery.

  • Revealing what's inside the booster pack: Once the web3 magic is completed, users can finally reveal and add their new Polymon discovery to their collection.

Process

As the Chief Product Officer, Lead Product Designer and Head of Community for Polychain Monsters, I am responsible for driving the development and improvement of our ecosystem.

Through daily engagement with our community of over 65,000 collectors on Discord and Twitter, I have been able to harness the power of transparency, involvement, and user-centric product development that is unique to the world of Web3. By gathering feedback and ideas for improvement from our community, I can design and develop solutions that truly meet the needs of our users.

To achieve this, I begin by wire-framing my ideas with pen and paper and then share them with our development team to ensure that they can be technically implemented. Once confirmed, I move on to high-fidelity designs based on the Polychain Monsters UI Library I set up and maintain. The high-fidelity designs allow me to collect feedback internally and from within the community through bi-weekly fireside chats in Discord and even 1-on-1 calls with selected community members.

With my background in Software Engineering and deep knowledge of Frontend Development, I bring a unique set of skills to the table. My ability to understand the limitations and possibilities of today's frontend and web3 technology allows me to create designs that are easy and fast to implement.

In fast-paced startup environments, I excel at balancing the benefits and effort when designing digital products. I pride myself on delivering well-thought-out user flows that are created in collaboration with community stakeholders.
