Rosa Hemisphaerica - Vintage Style Botanical Illustration

I often conceive of collections of art as a means to learn a skill. In this case it is Adobe Illustrator and more specifically the image trace tool. I create a group of artwork because repetition is key. The base illustration is first put thru the image trace tool creating a messy vector based piece, then I clean and prepare the artwork. From there I pair a font with a color that references the art. In this case a richly hued golden yellow. Lastly I layer in texture to create that vintage feel. I imagined myself discovering a print of this artwork in a crate at a flea market.
