Salt & Pepper Cats
Minimalist cat-shaped salt and pepper shakers
After photographing all the angles of the clay model, I started modeling the technical 3D mesh in Blender. The model is organic and functional. I created a square base for balance. Between the cat's ears are four holes for salt or pepper to flow through. At the bottom of the model is a sealing cap. This is embedded in the bottom of the mesh so the cat stays balanced on any surface.
Then came the preparations for 3d printing, many prototypes were tested to discover the final thickness and margins of the model.
Finally, I created an appropriate 3d printed material in Blender; I used procedural shading to create the typical 3d printed lines of PLA plastic.
