GOODIE - A Case Study
GOODIE, a mobile application that gives small food makers a place to build their brand, design their own storefront, and sell their product to customers all in one place.
Role: Product Designer Tools Used: Figma
The Problem
As a small food vendor, selling edible goods online can be stressful. Using multiple websites to sell your product can be hard to upkeep and not worth the fees associated with each website.
User Interviews
To better understand where those pain points are, I interviewed a potential seller and a potential buyer. Here are some key quotes that helped me develop the Goodie App.
Market Research
Based off of my interviews, I did a deep dive on market sites to gauge how their price models worked and if they had food vendors selling on their sites. I was also able to get some inspiration and layout ideas.
Persona's
Based off of my interviews and market research, I created two persona's. A buyer, and a seller.
Developing a User Flow
I ended up pin pointing my user flows based off my personas pain points. As a Seller, I wanted create an area where you can customize your storefront, and a central area to manage your whole business. I also wanted to give the Seller the ability to create a blog and have a more detailed 'about me' section so that the potential Buyer can build a trusting relationship with their seller.
As a Buyer, I wanted to create a simple marketplace that showcases products and local makers near you. I also wanted the Buyer to be able to view the Sellers storefront, their about page, and their blog page.
Usability Testing
I presented my mockups to potential users and there were some key items that needed to be changed.
Final Prototype
Viewing home screen, listing, and seller's profile.
Buyer's overview, viewing custom storefront themes and adding a theme to your storefront.
Key Takeaways
There are a lot of moving parts to an app like this. In the future, I want to hone my skills around eCommerce solutions and build up my prototypes to be more interactive.
