Last year we had an opportunity to work with Fishial on something new - Search for Species application. Itโs part of an extensive project that aims build the world's largest open sourced fish species photo library, tagged for AI machine learning ๐ง ๐ฆพ.

Today we can show you only part of our application that uses one of the three methods of searching fish species. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, but we are very proud of what we have already achieved๐.
Our challenge.
The main goal was to design and build an application that would be easy to use for anyone who wants to dive deeper into the world of fish species, regardless of their technological or scientific background ๐ฉโ๐ป๐ง๐ฟโ๐ป.
About the client.
The Fishial projectโs vision is to enable a quantum leap in the research & development of Artificial Intelligence to allow Fishial Recognition for all 34,000 fish species. Search for Species is one of the tool in hands of this visionery.

Step 1 - Upload your image to our online editor.
Step 2 - Confirm your choice by clicking on selected fish.
Step 3 - Click Detect Species button for Fishial Recognition! And that's it - now you can enjoy the results of identifying the fish species in the photo!
About machine learning ๐ง ๐ฆพ๐ป
Search for Species project includes a part that is responsible for detecting fish and drawing its outlines. โจThis algorithm is implemented as part of the ML side project.
What we did
We have designed an application for mobile and desktop devices, from prototypes to final hand-off to engineering, through user testing and iterations we simplified the process of the proprietary Fishial Recognition tool, making it easy and accessible to users at different levels of expertise.
We have developed AI/Machine Learning models that support the editor and create polygons describing the fish in order to optimize photo classification time. The platform's development plan includes using the acquired photo database to build further AI models recognizing any species of fish in the world.
