Eileen Collins was the first female space shuttle pilot. Since her childhood she dreamed of becoming an astronaut to see outer space first-hand, however, she did not have the necessary resources to enter a specialized space institution, so she leaned towards aviation. Years later, she was selected by NASA to participate in the astronaut pilot program, which ended successfully.
