I played around with the idea of branding a coffee company focused on video/tabletop gamers. As many coffee shops in my area have the same basic style, I wanted to make something with a bit more edge and interest.

Color Tests

I was inspired by the bold look of the 70's era Godzilla movie posters and also wanted something that would be a stark contrast to the white/beige/earthtone colors of the coffee shops in my current area.

Logo Tests

For the logo I wanted something that would stand out it were on a shirt/box/bag or coffee cup. I also wanted an image that could stand on its own without any copy beside it.

Type Scale Test

I chose Oswald for the font. The font had enough variation that it could stand alone without needed another for body copy. The less fonts I can use the better!

Social Page Mockup

A basic test of the cover image for a Facebook page. The bright red really gets attention but balances well with the minimal style of the image. It also ties in nicely with the red of the company logo.

Completed Style Guide

Using a combination of Adobe Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator I created a style guide for Kaiju Coffee.
