Virtual Medical Diary

“A medical diary that helps digital nomads all around the world keep track of their medical history and be in control of their health”.

Problem

The absence of someone’s medical history when they’re abroad is a very common problem. This problem exists in hospitals, private doctors’ offices, and ambulances all around the world. Additionally, medical examinations are printed on paper which takes up space, it’s easy to misplace and it’s difficult to transfer while the results are most likely in a specific language.

The majority of those people are aware of their health status so they don’t carry documents with them. When visiting a doctor, they need to share a verbal update of their complete medical history. They might need to retake medical examinations to confirm already known issues due to a lack of proper and verified documentation.

These problems occur when someone is traveling abroad, moves to another country, needs to travel for specialized treatment(surgery, clinical trial etc.) or is a tourist and requires hospitalization.

Solution

Designing a Virtual Medical Diary, to help keep track of one’s medical history that will contain all necessary information such as medical examinations, conditions, tests and overall health history.

1. The primary purpose of the app is to categorize one’s medical history; added to the application via camera scan or imported via Social Security Number. The categories are:

  • Blood tests, Urine tests, Gynecological tests, Biochemical tests, Cardiac tests, Hormonal tests.

  • X-rays, Ultrasounds, mammograms, CAT scans, MRI scans, PET scans.

  • On-going and previous prescribed medicine, diagnoses & doctor's comments.

  • Chronic diseases and conditions, autoimmune diseases, allergies.

  • Vaccinations.

2. The secondary purpose would be trivializing doctor-patient relationship by:

  • Allowing a doctor to prescribe medication remotely.

  • Monitoring and executing medical prescriptions.

  • Booking a visit with a specialist.

3. Additional features:

  • A calendar containing all medical events such as scans, diagnoses, appointments etc.

  • QR code or secret key allowing sharing of medical information to your doctor.

  • Translation service for ease-of-use in any country.

Users

The main user is a digital nomad. Digital nomads live and work from all around the world. They need to have a medical diary to keep track of their health history in case a health issue appears in another country. Besides digital nomads, users may also be health professionals (doctors, nurses, EMTs), tourists, expats, immigrants and in the bigger picture, every person that wants to have a medical diary and keep track of their medical history in an easy and less time consuming way.
