Baseball Scorecard Dropcaps

I've been freaking out ever since I got this idea yesterday. I wanted to invoke the scorekeeping grid with the boxed in drop cap, and then it hit me that I could also generate little details to mimic the techniques people use in their scorecard grid to note details about each at bat. These will be randomly generated on the new site design on each page that needs them. The elements are listed below along with their meaning.

Top Left: Many people use dots or hash marks to note the balls and strikes in an at bat. Top line is balls, bottom is strikes

Bottom Right: I like to use a diagonal slash to mark the end of an inning so to remind me where to begin when that team comes to the plate the next inning.

Top Right: Outs are recorded in shorts based on the players involved. A 3-4 putout with be the First Baseman fielding a ball and throwing the Second Baseman for the force out.

Bottom Left: In addition to drawing a path around the diamond, many people use this spot to mark the initial result of an at bat if it was a hit. Doubles all around!
