Wooff - Dog Walking App
My role in this project was of a product designer. From conducting the market and user research to delivering a fully functional solution ready for beta testing.
This case study, will show you how I went from the discovery phase to ideation, iteration and solution.
The problem
The demand for pet services has grown exponentially over the years, especially post Covid with people returning back to work. The solution is to create an ‘Uber’ for dog walking services. A phone app that helps dog owners find trusted dog walkers and dog walkers to earn something extra doing what they love to do.
User research
Following market analysis I learnt that as expected pet owners work more than 35hrs per week. My qualitative interviews indicate that most of the dog owners are in dire need of a trustworthy pet caring alternative. They love their pets and they are willing to pay for a good solution.
My qualitative Typeform interviews indicate, most of dog owners rely on their friends and family to look after their pets but are in need of a sustainable pet caring alternative. I’ve included 2 personas that summarise the underlying concerns of the users in my research:
Findings
Dog owners: Most of the dog owners apprehensive about allowing strangers to care for their dog. Trust is a significant issue, but users also wanted good communication, a walker in close proximity and peace of mind knowing their walker has been properly vetted.
Dog walkers: Want to have a flexible schedule where they can earn money in a fair manner. They want to build trust the users and their ambition is to be the solution to a gap within the community.
Userflows
With a better understanding of who the users are and what their requirements might be I started mapping out the user flows with streamlined onboarding process, booking and communication.
Wireframes
Following some minor adjustments to the rather detailed userflow for the Wooff app, I started to wireframe all the functionalities from my learnings.
The goal for these wireframes was to start getting a sense of how the app can look like from the onboarding process to searching for a walker to actually communicating with the walker. These steps served as a good testing ground for when it comes to user behaviour, with iterations being made until we felt confident to move into UI.
Components
Visual Design
The final visual screens were designed using the system above for speed, future changes, scalability and consistency.
Prototype & Testing
I conducted two rounds of usability tests on Wooff's interactive prototype. This was a necessary process to make sure that the onboarding flow, searching for a dog walker, and the profile were fully refined.

Outcome & Results
Understanding the user's needs for trustworthy pet care came in with a lot of thinking and design iterations, but at the end there was always the desire to build a clean product ready outcome. A solid solution that solves the problem of a functional dog walking app.
Thank you 🙌🏻
