Get On The Train
This is certainly different than what I normally do. This was a side project for a design team that I was on with a former employer. This was 3 years in the making with various starts and stops during the pandemic. I used this as an exercise in learning Affinity Designer. The quote comes from one of my old teammates.
There is a back story to this that the idea started back in January 2020 when I was still working for my previous employer. There was a joke on our team about "Getting on the train or get ran over by it" as part of the Design team "mission critical-ness" to our product. I thought it would be a fun poster to make for our team: "DOOM corp". Hence, the concept of a "Doom Train". So, Doom Train was sketched out and the tagline set. I end up getting a new laptop in February and was going to play around with/learn Afinity Designer. I usually took my laptop to the office with me so that I can take breaks and work on personal art on the side. Cut to March 2020 and I wasn't using my new laptop as much as I was on work laptop and home desktop because the world was ending, but the thought of finishing this poster was still in the back of my mind. Unfortunately, I hit a bit of a creative block around that time, and progress was quite slow on this thing. After 3 years of just picking at it, I finally finished it.
