DKNY logo proposal

Last year I was invited to participate in a private contest for designing a new brand motif for DKNY, that would be a part of the larger rebranding they were going through. Didn't win, but it was a cool experience.

They wanted a brand symbol that would stand alone, as well as pair with the redesigned legendary logotype. The motif was to be rooted in DKNY brand aspirations and beliefs, and New York's spirit and feel.

The three rectangles represent the virtues of brand pillars: confidence, strength and happiness. These values are key to revealing your most interesting self (important message of the brand) and give the tenacity to be the queen/king of your own life — hence the crown on top. The crown is also a hint at New York being the capital of the world — and Statue of Liberty.
