Silent Spring Cover Case Study

I first heard about this book in my Environmental Science course @northernmichiganu . Carson and her book became the prompt many Americans needed to think twice about the chemicals in products they used & the effects they had on the ecosystems around them. It began the modern Environmental movement..Cover stars an illustration made by yours truly. DDT (chemical icons in the tree portion) was the main chemical of concern discussed in Carson’s book. It was used as a pesticide most everywhere in the US post WW2. It killed not only insects but killed a ton of birds. An imbalance to one ecosystem can indirectly affect the human species, as we are learning with the current climate crisis. Carson’s aim was to not only think of the trickle down effect of hazardous chemicals on the natural world, but to think long term about the overall health of it.
