Boring? Enough snooze-fest philosophy lectures. ActiVote, a nonpartisan mobile application developed for US citizens, aims to educate voters on crucial political issues and bring democracy in the US to action. The mobile app offers users to answer one political question a day (also called tasks), setting a habit of voting and bringing Plato’s concept of an ideal republic closer to reality.
Lazarev.agency covered the entire cycle of redesigning ActiVote, as making the visual part both appealing and understandable is a great tip to lure the audience in (nay, promote political awareness). We made it interactive and engaging by placing clear action buttons throughout the screens. We also restructured the Calendar (the app’s main screen), showing the user the only task upon login: the user can either proceed with the offered task or choose a different one by the date. Color-vise, we paired dark background with bright red, blue, purple, yellow and orange: this way, we distinguished tasks and played a focus-catching card in the entire portal redesign.
