Thanksgiving dinner
Today is about gratitude.
Expressing gratitude is a November ritual for centuries now, but some people push to cancel this holiday. Well, I understand why. The story behind Thanksgiving is a bloody one. Just like the origins of any other major holiday, really.
The past of humanity is dark. Through trial and error, we’ve been learning to become better. Many things our ancestors did would be unforgivable in the modern society (unfortunately, some nations still live in the past because they haven’t learned their lesson), so the origins of the Thanksgiving holiday no longer applies to the present day.
This holiday is a reminder to be grateful for what we have. Although we should practice gratitude every day, sometimes we get so busy that we forget about it, so Thanksgiving Day acts as a yearly reset to bring us back to the present.
We have so much to be grateful for. This year has been difficult on the whole world, yet we all showed we care about freedom more than cheap prices. That’s why I believe in humanity and in our progress as an intelligent civilization. Always improving and learning to change things for the best.
I think it’s great to have at least one day a year when we can officially take a step back to prioritize thinking about everything we are thankful for as that may impact our life and decisions in the coming year.
Today is that day.
