InterviewAide: User Research

Interviewees from every industry must prepare for the unknown and learn how to read people through a series of carefully thought-out questions. It is not easy to find a job in any market. For many people, the job-seeking process can cause a lot of anxiety and fear. Through a series of semi-structured user interviews and an online survey, the research seeks to discover the problems that job seekers/interviewees have when researching companies, comparing benefits, and deciding on their “right fit”. The overall goal is to support the interviewee in their search to find the right job match by providing an organized way to compare and track company information. This set of research was conducted on a target audience of all genders, all occupations, and everyone available connected to the internet of working age. They were recruited through the messaging of existing contacts and the use of social media. There was a definite time limitation on this research, thus the recruitment is restricted to people with easy access. Before conducting the research, it was hypothesized that people traditionally take notes on a physical notepad, have a given set of questions they ask all employers, and have difficulty comparing companies during the offer phase. Each phase of the research helped educate the next, changing the final recommendations and deliverables from the original hypothesis.
